With the upcoming launch of Certa going live, we will be introducing a brand new plugin, Lets Encrypt, to help you easily install SSL Certificates.
The Let’s Encrypt plugin is used widely within the Industry, allowing people digital certificates they need in order to enable HTTPS (SSL/TLS) for websites, with one click installs. Let’s Encrypt is a free, automated, and open certificate authority (CA), a service provided by the Internet Security Research Group (ISRG).
Before to obtain your SSL Certificate you had to generate a CSR yourself, enter it into the system along with your personal information. The provider would send you a verification email and you would have to verify it, to then get sent an email with a certificate and finally install that. This all sounds like a lot of effort, but not to worry it has been defeated by the new plugin of ‘Let’s Encrypt’.
Now, you can go straight to obtaining your certificate and make sure it is fully installed in around 12 seconds. This also includes an automatic renewal in the background. One of the great features is that it is completely free for anyone to use as a trusted certificate with no cost.
Let’s Encrypt is a platform for TLS security best practices. All certificates issued or revoked will be publicly recorded and available for anyone to inspect. The objective of Let’s Encrypt and the ACME protocol is to make it possible to set up an HTTPS server and have it automatically attain a browser-trusted certificate, without any human interference.
My latest data shows that @letsencrypt is now the largest certificate provider for the Alexa Top 1 Million sites!
